First Time Mum

My contractions started at 8.30pm at home and I managed to stay at home until 5.30am, we then made our way to lister hospital and at 6am I was 6cm dilated. I spent the majority of my labour in the birthing pool however was in and out a few times due to having to have a catheter to pass urine as my body wouldn’t do this naturally. I had to have this done 3 times which was slowing down my labour. Despite the discomfort from this I was able to stay calm and relaxed using just gas and air and really controlling my breathing. By the time I was 10cms dilated my waters still hadn’t broke so the midwife broke them. I was then comfortable on the bed so I didn’t end up getting back in the birthing pool and around 4.45pm I began pushing and Georgie was born at 5.18pm on Wednesday 10th Feb weight 5lbs 10oz. The experience was amazing and was a lot calmer then I ever expected. Our midwife Gemma Lee was amazing we couldn’t thank her enough she made the experience so calm for both myself and Ronnie
